As a composer in the 21st century, I love the ability to be able to draw upon the many styles and genres of music throughout history and fusing those various elements to create divergent styles of expression. Whether writing for a marching band, string orchestra, soloist, or chamber ensemble, I appreciate the ability to collaborate with others to help realize a great performance. Music is a Living Force
I have striven for years to achieve a level of expertise in composition to be able to write in various styles consistent with symphonic music of the concert hall. It is absolutely gratifying to hear a performance of an arrangement or original piece by a soloist or large ensemble.

Tunes, Jingles, and Earworms
Sometimes it is just fun to write a tune. Having grown up in the era of MTV and now the internet, I’m constantly delighted by the joy a simple song can have on one’s mood. It is gratifying to tell a story in song form and in three to four minutes, and the challenge of finding the right hook for a tune is always gratifying. Writing novelty songs and parodies is great therapy, and a enjoyable way to blow off steam.

I’m still amazed at the technology available at my fingertips in the 21st century. Being able to write, record, and produce music on my own and independent of the record companies is awesome! I also enjoy helping others bring their musical ideas to life through production.
